TEACHING EXPERIEINCE
Courses Taught at the University of South Alabama
• Intro to Glass The manipulation, construction, and experimentation with glass as a sculptural and craft medium. Emphasis will be on glass blowing. Other investigations may include surface design, sandblasting, painting, and enameling on glass.
• Intermediate Glass A continuation of Intro to Glass focusing on refinement of form and investigation of complex techniques in order to develop proficiency in glass blowing as a means to service individual creativity. The use of glass color is explored.
• Advanced Glass Advanced techniques in hot glass will be explored for the development of refined sculpture and/or craft in glass. Course assignments will emphasize personal creativity and exploration. Instruction includes advanced finishing techniques and cold working techniques.
• Directed Studies in Glass Independent work in an approved studio medium or topic under the direction of a studio faculty member.
• Senior Thesis in Glass An independent project of creative work in the area of the Glass Concentration, with the guidance of one to three faculty advisors. The student is required to work at least 18 hours a week in the studio. The thesis must be publicly exhibited.
• Professional Studies Internship Students intern in a specialized area of interest. Written report required.
• Special Topics - Graduate Glass A graduate course treating a special medium, subject, or theme, as announced.
• Graduate Sculpture Intensive investigation of problem of mass, volume, form, and space using one or more sculptural media. Intensive investigation of visual, expressive or technical problems in glass.
Courses Taught at the University of Texas in Arlington
• Glassblowing The manipulation, formulation, construction and experimentation with glass as a sculptural medium. Emphasis will be on glassblowing. Other techniques may include furnace casting and kiln working
• Two-Dimensional Design This course will serve as a foundation course to introduce fundamental concepts, materials, processes, and vocabulary that are used in two- dimensional design.
